Creativity in the classroom
2nd Dec 2024
Hi all!
Room 7 are so lucky to have local artist Jane come into our classroom for the last four weeks to do some fabulous creative things!
We wanted you to have a look at what we have been getting up to...
Week one: creating with our eyes closed....
We were exploring mark making this week. We listened to some different types of music and let the music lead our lines.
Week two: exploring the outdoors
Nature was our source of inspiration. We went on nature trails and made story sticks, used mirrors to look at the different patterns in the trees and all of the bird's nests, and had lots of fun running around with our magic sticks!
Week 3: Hibernation and habitats
Jane brought in some clay mud from her local cliff beside the beach. We got our hands dirty making different shapes and learning about different sculpting techniques. We made habitats for our animals to hibernate for the winter. We also thought about how we could fend off any creeping predators.
Week 4: Colourful birds!
Jane brought in some bird skeletons which we enjoyed investigating carefully as they were very delicate. We then read stories about different types of birds, looking at the different patterns the birds had while we read. We created magnificent birds using oil pastels, beads, fur and feathers. We learned about the word murmuration. It means a flock of birds flying in the sky. That's exactly what our birds are like flocking together in our class!
